Gideros uses Luau!

If you’re looking a mobile app development framework that uses Lua, then you got the answer. Furthermore, Gideros uses Luau.

You can read more about the Luau APIs here.

I was interested on how Luau became Gideros’s choice, so I did some digging. They have their own lore written down.

While the article mentions how the team came to work on Luau, it was still ambiguous on whether or not they are strongly associated to Roblox.

While observing Gideros, I found some interesting similarities and ideas.

You can experiment with shaders via Luau.
You can compile for Xbox One.
The usages hits a lot like home… or, I mean, OOP in general?
Native Code Generation is obviously Roblox.

It’s a resource Roblox developers who’s looking forward to work outside of the Roblox ecosystem could take advantage of. You would have to learn new concepts, but you won’t have to learn a new language or ways to substitute for only on Luau features.

I’ve been knowing some projects other than Roblox have been using Luau, but they were pretty obscure.
